Campfire Apple Crisp
Has the weather started getting cool where you live? I’m loving these warm days and we are just starting to get cooler evenings. This time of year is magical and I love the fall! Especially when it means I get to indulge in Campfire Apple Crisp Foil Packets! There’s nothing better than a crisp fall night, foil packets on the campfire and enjoying the crisp autumn air.
I love taking the kids to the apple orchard and they get a kick out of it too! Sipping some apple cider, watching the kids bob for apples, crunching on bright crisp apples – seriously does life get any better?
When you make your trip to the apple orchard (or market or stand!) I want you to make this recipe. Something about grilling a campfire apple crisp that makes fall complete. The tender spiced apples topped with oatmeal streusel only gets better when you finish it off with a dollop of ice-cream, mmmm!
Grilled Apple Crisp
Pretty sure I’ve talked you into this now right? Seriously, grilled apple crisp is so good!
What apples are best for baking?
The best apples for baking are going to be your hard, crispy, tart apples!
These are the top five the “experts” recommend, but here’s what I’m going to tell you… use your favorite apples. The crunchy, crisp apples will stand up better to the heat of the grill. They won’t turn into applesauce like the softer apples can.
Having said that, if all you have handy is a soft apple the worst thing that will happen is after it’s baked it will be runnier than pictured here. That’s it! It’s not a catastrophe since Grilled Apple Crisp are served in foil packets anyway. See? No stress!
